About this calculator

This small, independent site, Savings I Bonds Calculator, has one simple purpose. Here you can see your I bond's worth, what cashing it in now would pay you, and how much a new bond could earn over time. An I bond is a savings bond issued by the U.S. government. When prices rise, its interest rate rises too, so your savings keep their buying power.

What this calculator does

Type in the month you bought your bond and the amount you paid. Every interest rate the government set since then is used in the value we work out, just as TreasuryDirect does. That figure should equal the amount shown in your TreasuryDirect account, to the very cent.

We checked against the figures on other websites to be sure, and our numbers match them. "Full value" means what the bond is worth including all its interest. "Cash-in value" means what you'd receive if you cashed it in during that month. Cashing in a bond that's less than five years old costs you the last 3 months of interest.

What this calculator does not do

We don't sell bonds, and you won't find any tax or investment advice here. We never ask you for a name, email address or Social Security number. Neither the U.S. Treasury nor TreasuryDirect runs this site, and it has no connection to either of them. Buy, cash or manage a bond through your TreasuryDirect account.
